Swampcast talks Florida basketball chances in March Madness

In this week's Swampcast, the Gainesville Sun's Kevin Brockway and David Whitley break down the chances for Florida basketball in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Brockway compares the Florida Gators to last year's Miami Hurricanes, who made a Final Four run with dynamic guard play and a physical big man in the middle, Norchad Omier. Florida's roster this year features All-SEC guard Zyon Pullin and Walter Clayton Jr. and physical center, Tyrese Samuel, capable of scoring and rebounding the paint.

Whitley said while the season-ending leg injury to Florida starting 7-foot-1 center Micah Handlogten is a blow, he's the one starter UF could afford to lose based on the emergence of freshman forwards Alex Condon and Thomas Haugh off the bench. Condon will make his first career start when UF opens the 2024 NCAA Tournament against 10-seed Colorado on Friday (4:30 p.m. TBS).

Guest George Bremer, sports editor of CNHI Sports Indiana, discusses Purdue's recent disappointments in the NCAA Tournament and the pressure the Boilermakers are facing as a No. 1 seed this year. Bremer, who covers the Indianapolis Colts, also updates how former UF quarterback Anthony Richardson has recovered from surgery and ingratiated himself to the city of Indianapolis as the Colts starting quarterback.
